A little about our Holiday Cottages…

We have four holiday cottages ranging from a three bedroom (sleeps six) cottage to one bedroom (sleeps two) situated at Newhall and nearby Spittal Farm forming the Newhall Estate comprising 1,100 acres on the southern foothills of the Pentland Hills – yet only 12 miles from the centre of Edinburgh.

The cottages at Spittal (the name comes from Hospice, Cistertian monks established a hospice on the hill above the farm buildings in the 10th and 11th century) are in a glorious position, south facing and surrounded by stunning walking country on a working sheep farm with the Pentland Hills Regional Park. As these cottages are based on the farm there will be times when farm activities happen and from September to January occasional shoots take place in the vicinity.

At Newhall – about one mile away from Spittal – there are two more self catering cottages, a two bedroom Steading Cottage and one bedroom Bothy both set in the lovely grounds of the historic Newhall Estate. Beautiful two acre walled garden and riverside walks in our precipitous and romantic glen.

Although all the Cottages are predominately for holidays we can let them on slightly longer term basis to help out if, for example you are between homes or need to escape while building work is carried out. Don’t hesitate to ask if you have a requirement.
